Bio – A 1982 Newman Smith High school graduate, Randy played football, basketball and ran track lettering on the Trojans football lettering in football his Junior and Senior year. He signed to play football at Cisco Junior College but developed a stress fracture in his hip while training for the upcoming 1982 season. In 1983 he walked on at Texas Tech and made the team as an unpreferred walk on. An injury to his shoulder that would eventually lead to a shoulder replacement ended his short career as a Red Raider. Not having the football bug out of his system he later played two seasons in the “Pro Style” semi pro league winning the 1991 championship. In 1992 another shoulder injury and growing personal training business would lead to him hanging the cleats up for good. Randy earned his B.S. in Kinesiology and his Masters in 1987 and 1989 from Texas Tech University. After graduation he began a career as a personal trainer.
During an elite 27 year career as a personal trainer, 17 as a gym owner he produced and directed a sports/fitness television series called “Total Body Magazine” syndicated on Prime Network affiliates, local stations in Florida and DFW during the mid 1990s while writing a monthly article with tips for working out in “Texas Athlete”. From 1987 to 1993 he had notable training partners as 1987 AAU Mr Texas Dave Welsh, 1993 Mr America Mike Scarcella and the once #2 professional female bodybuilder in the world Debbie Muggli who appeared in Nemeses 2 and 3 as well as a 1995 episode of Martin. After he started having spine and joint issues in 2010 he realized it was time to look for a new career he was as passionate about as exercise and fitness. A die-hard sports fan, Randy is a passionate supporter of the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, Stars, Texas Tech Red Raiders and high school sports. Randy Edwards founded Friday Night Glory (FNG) in 2011 as a platform to live stream high school sports for his Alma Mater Newman Smith.
